MISSOURI CLEAN ENERGY INITIATIVE
Achieving victory.
The Missouri Clean Energy Initiative, which proposed increasing renewables in energy supplier portfolios, introduced a direct ballot initiative to establish a Renewable Electricity Standard (RES) for investor-owned utilities. The initiative was supported by a dedicated environmental advocacy consortium including the Sierra Club, Missouri Coalition for the Environment, the American Clean Power Association (formerly the American Wind Energy Association), and Renew Missouri.

Designed to clarify the initiative, the campaign materials communicated the RES's objectives and long-term goals to Missouri residents. Highly informative and educational, these materials provided the necessary insight to secure a successful outcome. Achieving victory by a 2:1 margin, voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition C, the Missouri Clean Energy Initiative.
